Star Wars Days at the SMM

We decided to go to the Science Museum at the last minute after hearing it was Star Wars Day on one Saturday! There was also a Space special exhibit that we really wanted to see.

Teamwork!

At the Space exhibit some of the displays were in Spanish. James easily read through most of the Spanish, to my delight.

Neil Armstrong's gloves!

More teamwork. The boys had to manuever a robotic arm to drop a metal ball through a target, but using only cameras to see what they were doing. It was very difficult!

James found astronaut people to look like us on this play set. Ha!

Throughout the museum there were Star Wars/space crafts and activities. It didn't feel like Star Wars until we saw the 'troopers!!

There were so many of them!

Good photo opp

James hesitated but he ended up taking a picture when the trooper asked. And when they let him hold the weapon!

Fun day!

Sneaky: December 15

True Star Wars fans may point out that the Wampa beast doesn't use fire, preferring its meal fresh and icy cold. Oh well.

It took me a frustrating ten minutes to rig up the fire spit but I got it done!

Random Summer moments

Ice cream sandwiches are a new favorite.

I bought a similar blanket for myself and James just HAD TO have one too. He calls it his Blankie 2.0!

He grew these from seeds at school!

Rainy day and our neighbor still waters his lawn. It keeps us very amused.

James had to go to a few days of daycare while I went back to work in mid/late August. He wasn't thrilled but he made it through :)

Super nice to put up my feet and watch James play!

This is not the droid you are looking for!

Postcards

Grandma Laura gave James a very nice set of Star Wars post cards (by one of his favorite authors) and then she was the first to receive one!

Early May shenanigans

A student gave me this mini May Day basket of flowers and candy.

I put a few more candies in it and put it on our front doorstep for James. As far he knows a neighbor was kind and left that for him.

Cuddle time and silly faces.

You can kinda see here that he has the two teeth way up in his gum line, the ones next to his top front teeth. Those teeth are above and over the baby teeth, one of which has fallen out now. The concern is that he will have moderate to severe crowding.

Silly.

James helped me try out a craft before I did it with students for Cinco de Mayo or Mother's Day (whichever they chose to celebrate). I did this craft with my Gay Straight Alliance group and of course they were rainbow colored flowers! Painting coffee filters...

For flowers!

One of my students was very creative and made his fancy. Love it!

Here are some shenanigans. James received this wind-up spider in a Happy Meal. He knew it would be perfect to scare his Dad! He hid it on his Dad's side of the bed (:

One weekend in May I went on a "scrapbooking weekend" at a rented cabin. I think this was just an excuse to hang out with my fun colleagues, be silly, and drink a little wine!

We ventured into Taylor's Falls to look around. Two people are missing from this picture.

There might have been some midnight strolls in creepy barns, and knocking on windows to scare the other girls. Silly "old" women!

Lucky girl

Do you know how lucky I feel to put this wonderful child to bed, with wishes of Sweet Dreams...

And wake up to these two doing homework?

It's a wonderful life!

Star Wars art

A flyer came home with James and so we signed him up for a Star Wars art class! And to make it even more fun I talked to Dane's mom and they also signed up! I said it would be easy to pick up both boys at 5pm and drop off Dane at home.

This is the first piece of art. Obviously there are stars, starships, and Yoda.

Oh, and we ended up at a McDonald's detour.

And then with Dane's mom's permission we ended up having a little Minecraft play date.

Yeah, James was in heaven.

The other art classes were just as successful. These are clearly R2D2's.

More Minecraft.

Have you met Bob? He's the most famous Jedi. He kind of looks like a moose?

And this is Chewbacca. Minus eyes. James said he ran out of time and didn't get to put on the googly eyes.

And the last project of the five classes was a diorama of the galaxy! Ooooh ahhhhh.

We were quite happy with James' projects!
