Last Day of School

Does he look like he's in Primer Grado?

James and Queenie. Queenie has been super helpful at Learning Ventures, the after school daycare program.

Kindergarten Graduation

The day finally came! Our little boy is now done with kindergarten! Kindergarten far exceeded all of our expectations. We knew that Spanish Immersion was the direction we wanted to go, but I never imagined James learning all that he did!

James is part of the Class of 2025! Yikes!

The kindergarteners walked in. We were so excited to see James!

We ended up with great seats, right in front of where James sat with his class.

And we enjoyed their two songs in Spanish...

Finally the moment James received his "diploma"! Shaking Principal "Señor Larson"'s hand first.

and then Señora Kennedy.

Oh, wrong kid. Actually, I took Luis' picture because I noticed he didn't have any family at the ceremony. I'm sending this to Senora Kennedy to maybe send their way.

Ah! There's our boy!

Refreshments with the Grandmas.

We're so proud of you, James! You did great!

School Carnival

Right before the big graduation week, Westwood school had its School Carnival. We received the flyer so we knew it was going to be BIG but we had no idea.

Tons of inflatables and contraptions.

James was quick to run inside an inflatable to bounce and explore. It was hard to keep track of your child, unless you kept an eye on the exit.

Sometimes I spied him through the peep holes..

And then he saw this HUGE slide. I didn't think he'd actually go down it, but I'm not one to discourage or project MY fears on to my child.

So I waited at the bottom to snap some pictures. Three right in a row.

He came down feet first, SUPER fast, feet flying at my camera. I was quick to catch him and then he insisted AGAIN AGAIN! So a few more times and then on to the next inflatable thingie.

It was a sorta chilly day but that didn't stop James from wanting to go down this HUGE water slide. Again, I really doubted he'd go down it but I was pleasantly suprised to watch James wait patiently in the line, climb up the rope ladder, and then FLY down this water slide.

NO FEAR! So awesome!

His second time down...

And then his final third time...

I was super proud of him! And what a fun carnival!

May Art

James came home with the best piece of art yet. A true masterpiece!

The art teacher really impressed. She had the kids do a multi-media piece of art for school. When I saw it, I just kept thinking that I need to frame this for like, forever.

The vase is drawn with crayons, the flower stems are painted and then pasted to the piece of paper, and the flowers are multi-layered pieces of construction paper. I just love it! Jim felt the same way when he saw it.

I bought a frame within a few days and it was on the wall in the same day! It was THAT important to us to show James that we love it.

Jim was also busy beautifying the rest of our house.

School Carnival

I was under the weather (again) but I wouldn't miss James' carnival, especially because all of the kids had small parts in the presentation.

The presentation was all about Mexico. James thought it was perfect that he wear his Mexico shirt. It was.

The parents all sat in the middle of the classroom as the kids one by one recited their lines, about the foods and culture of Mexico.

James did great! I was so impressed with the kids' pronounciations and courage in speaking up. James told us later that he was nervous. But he did good!

And Dixie cup maracas with a song at the end!

¡Viva Mexico!

April Art

I THINK this says "My Favorite Part is Pinnochio". I THINK they read the book in school.

Obviously, this is Angry Birds.

"Mi Cosa Favorita". His favorite thing? Waterslides. Who knew?
