Golf camp 2014

Golf is always fun for James.

I always feel a bit hesitant to just drop him off for an hour. I feel like I should be watching, waiting.

I did watch the stretching. I found it cute.

And I watched through the link fence.

But I quickly found somewhere else to be. I went for a walk each day! And I'd come back to a sweaty, tired face. But he had fun!

Another day...

I came back before the hour was done and found them chipping.

And they got to ride the cart. HUGE thrill!

Last day...

What fun!

No more freebies

There was a time that we could present ourself the Victory Links clubhouse and ask to golf. They'd wave us in because they'd think it was so cute that a four, five year old wanted to golf. They didn't know he could do all 18 holes and keep his focus.

But now that he's six we don't get freebies. I had to PAY for this round of golf. Happily!

This was right about the time that James said he wanted to be pro. I told him that professionals like Tiger Woods make millions of dollars, when they win tournaments. But you need to practice a lot.

So off to practice...!

What fun. We haven't really practiced much since. I think he now wants to be Chuggaconroy.

Fancy Golf & Lunch date

There is a golf course at the Minneapolis Sculpture garden. We'd been wanting to take James because he loves a good mini golf course. It was a beautiful day, I felt like summer was coming to an end, so we went.

There had to be a Cherry Spoon pic. I wanted to shoo those people away, but eh. Whatever.

This golf outing was pretty expensive. It really is a one-time only experience. The course was pretty creative and amazing though. Lots of thought went into it, lots of artist contribution. Some of it went over James' head. He just wanted to GOLF.

This hole was a play on perspective. Like an Alice in Wonderland little room.

Funny faces. Gotta love 'em.

Oh no! #gnomebomb!

A nice picture with my beautiful son!

After lunch we headed to Rye Deli in Uptown. I just bought a fabulous Groupon that morning and I was happy they took it soon. We feasted. Really. I said no to nothing. There is a giant cookie in the picture to prove that :)

On the way home we decided to make his Dad happy and vaccum out the car. Ha! I think James earned 50 cents for that.

Another great day with my James!

Final Golf Lesson

James had his final golf lesson a few weeks ago. He did so well! I always dropped him off knowing that he enjoyed it and that he was well taken care of. There was an older gentleman that James really connected with- his name is Gary. (We remembered his name easily- James told me it is the name of Spongebob's pet snail!)

At the final golf lesson James ran back to Gary and said, "Thanks for being my teacher, Gary!" This earned him a huge high five from Gary. I really appreciated the extra attention that he gave to my James.

Day of Golf

James had his regular golf lesson on this day but he didn't know there was also a surprise..

I made secret plans for a playdate with George after the golf lesson! Jim said I was the best Mom ever for arranging this secret surprise, and for the fun day we planned. James had been wanting to go to Goony Golf so I figured it would make him happiest to enjoy Goony Golf with his bestie!

The boys worked up quite a sweat and then appetite, so we headed to McDonald's but the special one with the Playland. Really, I think all of James' dreams came true that day :) (He always wants to go to this particular one, but there hadn't been a great opportunity until now!)

Thank you, George, for a great day! He was the only one willing to pose for pictures at Playland. And honestly, I was just glad to sit down and stay cool!

Golf and Bestie Playdate

New golf clubs! His golf clubs were noticeably smaller than the other boys', not that it's a competition! But I did ask the golf pro's advice and he did say to go up a size. These clubs are for ages 7-10, I think.

All the golf club bags look alike so I had the idea to add his Angry Birds clip to his bag, so he would be able to find his bag easily. It worked!

Coming back from the far range, after the 90 minutes. Sweaty and exhausted!

And with a golf blister! The golf pro told me he needed a bandaid.

James didn't stay exhausted for too long because we had a playdate all set up with his new bestie, Ryan!

It is so cute. They greet each other with hugs. Ryan with literally waiting for James on his front lawn, so excited.

They quickly ran off to play and I got to visit quite a bit with my friend Ann! WIN WIN!

Super Hero Face-Off!

We headed to a nearby playground. The boys played hard and then stopped to rest in the shade.

The Moms were encouraged to do the same, and James captured the following picture.

And Ann took this one..

A playdate must include ice cream!

What a happy, lucky and good boy I have!
