Where did March go?

I'm behind on blogging again. So rather than do many little posts I'm going to just put all of my favorite pictures from the middle of March to the end below. I'll try and comment on each picture so there's some background, but they are just general cuteness.

James "helped" me make a dessert of pudding, crumbled chocolate chip cookies, and assorted toppings (whipped cream, sprinkles).

He was very serious about his sprinkles.

His Daddy enjoyed a pudding too!

I know James is my child when he shows such enthusiasm for good food. Red grapes are the best!

We're back to enjoying bath time. What a relief!

Waiting for his two stories at bedtime.

Just playin'.

"My Mommy is the best cook!" I made James a mini homemade pizza. He took a few bites, but wasn't too impressed.

We love that James is starting to do chores and understand that he has to help around the house. Here Jim is showing James how to fold towels. He loved it!

"I did it all by myself!"

James left a Batman at Grandma Rose's house so one day we received a package with this note. I love that these are the same squiggly faces that I grew up with. My Mom is famous for her little squiggly faces! "You make my heart happy!" is a James saying. Grandma Rose loved hearing that from her little man!

Playing around the house.

One day James started to pick the flowers from my hibiscus tree. In this picture he was very proud to present me with a flower. I loved it too!

Relaxing.

Before bathtime.

I don't remember why but James is crying for his Daddy in this picture. Jim was out of town, and James was asking for him.

Jersey and hat day at daycare. It occurred to me later that it was probably Twins gear but we weren't the only rebels that day. Lots of kids were in Vikings and Wild gear, not just the Twins (that fit the baseball theme of Open House Night.)

Bounce houses are fun!

James is playing "dead" with Ethan and Russell. I dislike that word coming out of his mouth!

Cute!

James told us he was going to "work" in Daddy's office. We found that he folded all of the washcloths. Yay! Huge praise that day :)

One winter day, James and I went to the playground in our snowpants.

I hate snowpants but it was worth it to see this smile!

And this one.

And his pride in climbing to the top of the climbing wall.

And then we met the other James. Another family was at the playground and we found out that the other James was also four years old!

In the car, going back home, James told me, "Mommy, that boy was James too. He was four years old too. And he's a heartbreaker." Haha. I think James has heard others calling HIM a heartbreaker so many times (because of his beautiful eyes), that maybe he just thinks all James' should be heartbreakers!

Funny- on the potty with goggles!

I took a picture of the day's journal entry. Each day the kids practice their letter or number of the day, and their names.

Meow! Cute artwork that I've promised to Tia Kiki.

There is no such thing as taking too many pictures of my adorable son! I hope this blog entry wasn't too overwhelming.

Lego Castles

We had this great idea to visit the Children's Museum today because the Lego Castle exhibit is finally open! James was pretty enthusiastic about the idea and had his thoughts of what it should be.

James was excited but also kind of hesitant. You can see him still clutching his Blankie.

James' idea of what this exhibit should be was building castles out of Legos. He ignored all the other parts of the exhibit, which was too bad because I *think* there were some cool parts. He was also disappointed that the lego area didn't have "guys". No knights or men. Oh well.

There was a meltdown at the museum and I ended up sitting on a bench with him for a while. He calmed down enough that he went to the next exhibit with his Daddy, but then was fussy again. Whaaaaaat?!

So we left earlier than we thought. Better luck next time I guess.

Our little Jekyll/Hyde was all better in the parking garage.

On Friday I surprised my wonderful husband with an overnight babysitter, so we had a whole night to ourselves for a dinner date. It was quite luxurious to eat slowly and speak to each other without interruption. We love our little guy but he sure does talk a lot lately :)

I speak of this because I think the day after a babysitter our little James is upset with us. I'm starting to think there is a pattern of increased tantrums after he's spent some time away from us. I need to think on this.
There were several time-outs today and a TV restriction (a consequence) imposed. Tough love, baby.

Catch-up

Yoga pose
James was imitating the picture on the Wii Fit CD.

One-armed push up. I don't know where this came from!

Tia Kiki sent these Kokeshi from Japan! I think that's supposed to be me, and James. Sorry, Jim, you didn't get a doll :)

My wonderful husband surprised me with flowers at work. I didn't even think he'd send any, after the week he had traveling and getting stuck in the snow! They opened up to be beautiful irises and tulips.

James came home from daycare with a big box of treats and Valentine's cards from his friends.

The box he decorated at daycare.

He opened M&M's and insisted on eating them from a plate. I didn't know he'd lap them up like a dog though...

Saturday
James and his Dada made spaceships!

Grandma Rosie came over to babysit on Saturday. Jim and I took a much needed "day off". We went to a movie (Avatar 3D), did a little shopping, went out to dinner, and then sat and relaxed with a (decaf) coffee.

We ate at Restaurant Cru, starting off with sparkling wine with a raspberry heart cube.

Sunday morning. James tries on our 3D glasses.

We all had our Valentines breakfast of Cinnamon Bun filled pancakes with cream cheese icing and Eggs. Yum.

James opens up his Valentine's Day card.

"This is for me?"

A Little Einsteins magnet play set!

A heart box of Hershey's kisses and a mini heart of M&M's!

"Bathtime"
James has loved piling up pillows and blankets and pretending to have "bathtime". We pretend to find fish, purple sea urchins, and squid in the water. Yeah, it doesn't make much sense but it's fun to him.

James and his Dada went to visit Grandma Laura on Sunday afternoon, so I got busy setting the table with candles, flowers, homemade cards, and wine.

We had another favorite meal, Chicken Scallopine. Yum.

After dinner, James jumped and gave his Dada several mid-air high fives. Great fun!

Monday. I had a day off from work and James' daycare was closed for the day. We had a good time playing at home and running some errands. I bought James some new Legos because he's been having such a great time building with the others. The regular Legos are too "old" for him, I knew he needed the bigger ones because they're easier to snap together and build. James made this "tower" and was very proud!

Tuesday night
I was prepping veggies for my salads and saw James playing with his food in the background. He was having a great time dipping carrots in ranch dip.

James picked up his golf clubs tonight and took a few swings!

Bedtime. I had James help take off his own clothes. He's pretty independent and likes to try these kinds of things now.

And then he put his dirty clothes in the hamper. He's very clean sometimes.

We turned off the lights to read books. James started to tell me his own stories...

One of James' best Valentine's gifts was a book from Grandma Rosie. He has insisted on reading it every night, at least twice. It's a book that has Grandma's voice recorded, reading the book as he turns the pages.

What a great weekend!
