"Are you my best friend?"

This has been the cutest question from James. He is full of questions but this is the one I like to answer. The answer is, 'Yes! Are you my best friend too?" And he giggles and says yes. Jim and I are both his best friends. We're like the Three Amigos!

The other great question is "Guess what, Mama?" Me- "What?" James- "I love you!"

Playing with his remote control car.

I was a little tired of all the blankets and pillows on the couch and floor so I had the brilliant idea of throwing them in the "clubhouse". It's now become James favorite place to crash and wrestle around in. He invited his Dada to play in there...

Poor Jim ended up getting smacked in the nose and yelping in pain.

We just have to be careful!

Tuesday morning

My mornings are full. Today I forgot to turn on my alarm clock, oops. Without Jim at home I am rushing around (more than usual since I am NOT a morning person) to get myself dressed, James dressed, James entertained, James needs a snack- banana and milk, James wants to watch TV, my lunch packed, coffee made- very important, and then the car packed with everything. Gloves, hat, my work purse, my lunch, my coffee thermos, banana and milk usually come with us too, etc.

We appreciate Dada!

James woke up earlier than usual this morning- of course, because I had planning on washing my hair, so that didn't happen. I felt a moment of frustration but then had to laugh when I heard him giggling inside his room. I could hear that it was muffled and so I knew he was in his closet, or the "clubhouse". I grabbed my camera and this is what I found-

Blankie by his side, James had pulled all of his Dr. Seuss books off the shelf and was reading them. It was pretty cute. He was immediately forgiven for waking up too early :)

I didn't know that he liked Dr. Seuss? Well, he insisted on carrying them all downstairs to the living room, so they are waiting for us tonight. Maybe we'll have a Reading Night?

I snapped this picture of the Class Rules at daycare this morning. I wanted to remind myself that we could maybe post some of our own rules, pretty much the same as theirs I would imagine.

The "Nice Touches" have become an issue. James, when frustrated, will make a "pew pew" noise, like he's shooting! We don't know if its something he learned at daycare or Star Wars. Ooops! I did see a bunch of kids doing this when I picked James up at daycare on Monday. James and some boys had fashioned these kinda-sorta-guns out of construction toys, they looked like crude L's. They were chasing each other and making the "pew pew pew!" sounds, giggling. The teacher just rolled her eyes and laughed when I asked about it, the same reaction I had. I hate to be stereotypical, but BOYS!

Little imp

This little boy is so happy and energetic...

Jumping in the "Bounce House Clubhouse" with balloons.

So much energy that he fell asleep playing in his closet clubhouse. Now, this isn't where I left him for his nap. He took himself and a blanket inside the closet and this is how I found him. In the picture he's pretending to be asleep. He wouldn't acknowledge me for a minute, refusing to talk but giving me the most mischievous smile. Funny.

I don't just carry my camera everywhere. I went downstairs quickly to get it because he was just too cute.

Apple Cranberry Cake-Pie

Delicious!

Jim gave his stamp of approval- "Very, very good"! We both agreed that it could use a few more cranberries next time.

A video from my iPhone today. I bumped my head so James did the sing-song little chant that my Mom did for us when we were little. I'll have to get the Spanish translation from Grandma Rosie later. I say it often enough to James that he tries to copy the Spanish :)

Baby Happy, Baby Sad

Artwork from this week- a Feather Collage.

There's a book that we read at bedtime now called Baby Happy, Baby Sad. The Sad Baby is shown first and he is sick. I tell James that the Baby is sad because he didn't take his medicine. The Happy Baby is playing and having fun because he took his medicine!

Well, I don't think this has quite sunk in with James. He refuses to take his medicine easily. Tonight was the worst. I feel sick that I need to restrain James to get the medicine down his throat. I had one of my fingers in his mouth to get his jaw open just a bit, to get the syringe in there. Owwwwww! That kid is strong!! Sadly, I am winning this battle. I need to. I need to get these antibiotics in his system. There are lots of hugs and kisses after the medicine trauma but it still pains me.

On Friday we had a false alarm with daycare. They called us and told us that James had a temperature of nearly 103 and we needed to pick him up ASAP. I left work in a hurry to get to James while Jim called the doctor. We might have jumped the gun on that one. I brought James home immediately and took his temperature. It was 98! Nothing. He was acting so normally and so happy I started to doubt the daycare and their thermometer accuracy.

I called the clinic and spoke to a nurse. She agreed that it was an impossibility that James' temperature could have gone down THAT much in an hour. We also explained that we were told he had an ear infection on Tuesday and we also missed a dose of antibiotics the night before. Well, we ended up cancelling his appointment. I took his temperature again after naptime and he was of course fine. James has shown NO sign of illness all weekend.

Really, I felt panicked as I drove to pick him up from daycare. With everything going around, to hear about my baby with a temperature?! Scary but it ended up fine.

Today we went to the apple orchard! James was so excited to see the apples. We promised him pumpkin pie and cider. He also got a cookie bonus :)

Mmmm. Cider chocolate chip cookies!

On the way out James insisted on smelling the flowers. So cute.

Back at home, James has LOVED playing in his new "clubhouse" and tunnels. I need to get better pictures of the whole clubhouse, but here he is looking through the tunnel. He was crabbypants after his nap.

A balloon from his birthday party. It was floating around without a string and it kept floating up to the top of the living room ceiling until we had the bright idea of reconnecting it to some curling ribbon. James is having a good time chasing the balloon around the house.

No plans tomorrow! Probably football and baking with apples :)

My tooth is feeling better. It still hurts occasionally and I don't like taking the painkillers- really they don't seem to affect me much.

Got the worm!

My early bird definitely got his worm this morning. (I don't even know what I mean by that, so oh well.)

I went to wake James this morning and get him dressed. I had a TERRIFYING three seconds when I saw that he was missing!!!!!! The door was closed, I hadn't heard him get up and go downstairs, so I frantically tore at the blankets and rushed to the closet door. I open the door and there is James.

James was sitting on his monkey chair, in his cute pajamas, reading books. He had turned on the closet light and made himself comfortable.

"I read books! I not sleep."

Thank Baby Jesus!
