Mother's Day weekend 2015

We took my Mom out for a dinner in Minneapolis. Just the girls!

Laughs and wine!

The next day my boys took me out to a fancy brunch and movie!

I couldn't resist taking one of each of the chocolate desserts! Cake pops, mini eclairs, tiramisu in a cjhocolate cup, cream puffs, and something something with its own chocolate spoon. Heaven!

I felt loved!

And then a movie! Avengers!

Happy Mother's Day!

Star Wars Days at the SMM

We decided to go to the Science Museum at the last minute after hearing it was Star Wars Day on one Saturday! There was also a Space special exhibit that we really wanted to see.

Teamwork!

At the Space exhibit some of the displays were in Spanish. James easily read through most of the Spanish, to my delight.

Neil Armstrong's gloves!

More teamwork. The boys had to manuever a robotic arm to drop a metal ball through a target, but using only cameras to see what they were doing. It was very difficult!

James found astronaut people to look like us on this play set. Ha!

Throughout the museum there were Star Wars/space crafts and activities. It didn't feel like Star Wars until we saw the 'troopers!!

There were so many of them!

Good photo opp

James hesitated but he ended up taking a picture when the trooper asked. And when they let him hold the weapon!

Fun day!

Charlie Brown Holidays

Grandma Laura loves Charlie Brown and the gang. We knew it would be perfect to go to a holiday play with her. I'm so glad that I found this option and Jim was able to buy the tickets for us to go!

The play was at the Old Log Theatre. It was quite the drive away! We first had brunch in this fancy little cafe attached to the theatre. And then it was time for us to get some Charlie Brown holiday cheer!

I couldn't take pictures during the play, but these are parts of the sets.

The play was pretty good!

Pinehaven Farm 2014

We like this fall tradition. We may not buy our pumpkins from the farm, but we like the fall activity of visiting!

He really loved the goats this time!

Mmmmmm mini donuts :)

Watching the Farfel the Dragon show. Kinda ridiculous, but silly humor for kids.

Apple cannons!

We rode the tractor to the pumpkin patch.

And a quick visit to the playground.

And that's a full day!

Renaissance Festival, early September 2014

Oh just looking at these blue skies and sun makes me wish for summer already.

Jim and I hold the Renaissance Festival close to our hearts- one of our best first dates way back in 2001. James wasn't even a twinkle in our eyes! But it was nice to experience this with him. We told him beforehand that the Festival is much like Minecraft- weapons, villagers, blacksmiths, etc. He wasn't disappointed.

Well, at first he was whiny. We arrived there at the gate opening. We had to wait briefly and we were all impatient. And crowded.

We found the quirky villagers right away. Pickle salesman had these buttons.

James spied a treat he just HAD TO have. Cookie ice cream sandwich.

We sat for an exciting fire show. James doesn't look too excited but he perked up.

On to the weapons! James got a sword and holster.

Tried his luck at the kiddie games. Frog catapults here.

And we spied a gnome! #gnomebomb

When we ran into these guardsmen James was better armed- he just bought a rubber band crossbow.

This character kinda creeped me out. He was very nice to James.

Our adventurous boy wanted to climb this tower. Yup, that'd be great!

He didn't make it all the way up but we were impressed by his effort.

I think maybe he got another kind of education here- this young lady was showing quite a bit!

I'd say he made it halfway up.

More catapults.

And crossbow shooting.

And strongman efforts. Pretty cute.

It was quite the day! We had a lot of family fun :)
