Getting ready for Easter

We were egged!

A neighbor friend left this note and a Easter basket of goodies on our front steps. We had to make copies of the sign and do the same for someone else. Like Pay it Forward.

My Obama egg collection :) 2009-2015

Our neighborhood had an Easter egg hunt. James has always hunted for eggs solo so I thought a larger egg hunt would be fun. The kids were in a frenzy of anticipation!

The little kids got a head start. The big kids lined up for the "Go!"

And they're off!

One of the neighbors on the pond hosted the hunt. Their yard had lots of nooks and crannies to hide the eggs. Each kid was supposed to hunt for 10 eggs and then be done.

Done!

Dane.

Evan and Alex were also hunting.

We even invited them over afterwards for a spontaneous play date and lunch.

It was a good day!

Get outside!

So the weather improved in March and I urged James to get outside!

I was happy he was outside and then I spied him through the window, as I was standing on the catwalk/stairs...

He's on his iPod outside! So I texted him. Yup, I did. I texted him to play.

I guess he understood this to mean play on his iPod because he was still doing it when I saw him again.

Finally, the Nerf guns came out and all was well.

And on another day the scooters and bikes came out. Yay Spring! And his bestie Evan was over for a playdate (he's the redhead in the camo shirt, on the left).

NYE 2014

I keep trying to convince James that his bestie is Noah. Noah's mom, Jessica, is my best friend so it would really help if we all like to hang out. Well, Noah is only 3 (on NYE) and James is kind and patient but he has more mature interests. Ha!

The Mesna family came over to hang out with us on New Year's Eve. Jess and I hung out, the boys played, and the bigger boys (Jim and Andy) hung out in the basement and pretended they were pool sharks.

The small boys headed up to bed and James was very helpful. He shared his bed, read Noah some books, and helped to keep the excitement down.

So they tried to sleep.

It didn't end up working out so well. Noah got up multiple times and asked for his Mom from the top of the stairs. Jess was pregnant and couldn't keep getting up and down, so we ended up abandoning our sleepover efforts.

It was still nice to hang out!

Happy New Year!

Finishing up December 2014

A new Nerf weapon was purchased. Probably with Christmas cash!

A play date with a school friend Evan and neighbor buddy Sawyer. Playing Minecraft, of course!

Snuggling with Mom.

Fun stuff!

End of Fall

In mid October I was admiring our fall and thinking already that snow would soon come. Sigh.

School release days equal play date! With his good buddy George! George's Dad is also a teacher, and had the day off, but he seemed kind of relieved to drop George off for the day!

They got right to Nerf play!

I love love love this picture. The reds, the oranges!

Neighborhood friends came to greet George. They all played well with each other. I hardly a worry.

Inside, for a little Minecraft play.

After George left James went over to the far neighbor's house to play. I don't like him that far, especially when they play on the side and front of that house, but the kids seem nice enough. The family has several (6-8??) foster kids ranging in ages 3 to 16, I think.

It was a pretty fun day for James!

WJDN?

Play date with George!

Play date with Noah

Noah loves cheeseburgers. James does too. My friend Jessica and I thought we need to get these two burger loving boys together again.

First, we went to the playground. James is quite familiar with this playground so he had fun showing Noah around.

And then he thought little Noah should get a Nerf lesson. Sorry, Jessica.

And finally the burgers!
