Snow Fun with Mom

James received this very cool air sled for his birthday, from a school friend that I can't remember.

We also made snow angels.

"Mom, it's kind of beautiful."

James, YOU are beautiful!

School is cool!

At my school I put together this cultural map, showing where our students are coming from. Diversity rocks! I showed this to James, he was unimpressed.

My teacher friend Gretchen put together this Little Free Library. Kids can take or leave books, all for free. She asked the staff for donations and I happily contributed some books for wee little ones, preschool, and even adult novels. The library is available for any one in the community. From now on I'm saving our gently used books for this, or for our May garage sale :)

¡Cien Días!

Kindergarteners celebrated cien días of escuela! 100 days of school! James came home with this hat.

Play date with George, the Bestie

There was no school for President's Day and the Tuesday after. We had the Bestie over for a playdate. Finally! Said James, our turn finally! We had attempted another playdate but George cancelled due to pink eye last month.

A funny picture first, to get out the giggles.

I tried to leave the boys alone, and not hover. I kept myself busy upstairs cleaning. I did look down often to see what's what. Balloons and Legos, that's what!

I kept myself busy with little boy jeans and patches. Seriously, just the left knee all the time?

George had the most awful owwwie. His Dad said (at drop-off) that George had a temporary tattoo on his face. When they used a cleaner on his face he had some kind of reaction to it. It looks like a chemical burn! Poor kid!

Star Wars Lego game on the Wii.

I challenged the boys to a "Weirdest Lego Guy Contest". They created weird Lego guys from our huge bin of parts. This lasted all of three minutes, and then on to the next thing!

It was great fun having George here!

Weekend with Mom

Jim/Dad was out of town one weekend in February. Big Boy mischief at Tom's cabin. That's all I know!

I love a good selfy. I don't love my face in these pics (make-up-less, tired) but James makes great funny faces!

James chose Chuck E. Cheese as his place to go. $5 can sometimes go a long ways!

A man passing by told James, You have a good arm! James just doesn't have any interest in team sports...

Tongue out, ala MJ.

Help!

And his favorite game- water racing! We ran out of tokens so he played himself.

Active Mom for the weekend decided that yes, of course we can play outside too...even though CEC exhausted me!

We even did a little shoveling. Dad will be pleased!

Goodnight, Handsome. Not really. He won't sleep without pajamas.

Sunday morning swim lesson! It was my first time taking him in a long time. I was pleased to see so much improved confidence.

We sure were glad to see Dad on Sunday though. He was missed!

Fieldtrip

Not too long after the kindergarten fieldtrip I got to take another fieldtrip with CRMS. I had never been to the State Capitol, and I ended up loving the building. I just wanted to share a few pictures here. Our school group was able to visit parts of the building that the general public isn't allowed. We had a state senator with us and with him we were able to stand on the senate floor, and visit the Governor's reception hall.

Minnesota Supreme Court

Gold leaf above. The kids were amazed.

The Governor's reception hall. The fanciest, most expensive room, said the kids. We learned that they designed it ornately to impress traveling dignitaries who might have thought Minnesota to be backwards and country-ish, so it was decorated in the European style of the day.

I had a student take this picture of me. I have a long history with tepees!

They offer free tours at the Capitol. Definitely worth looking into!
