2 year wellness visit to Dr. K

James is a healthy little boy! He is measuring at 28 lbs 6 ozs (53rd percentile) and 34 inches (36th percentile). So he's a little on the shorter side, but still within average measurements. He did grow 2 inches since the last visit, so all on track.

Our doctor's visit was a bit stressful for James. The doctor was running late so it was a long wait, and James had missed his snack at daycare because he woke up so late from his nap. I was an unprepared Mama and didn't have any food with me. I guess I will learn from that. So he started crying "Eat" until the doctor came in and cheered him up. James liked the doctor's instruments, especially the ear checker with the lighted tip. I was impressed with how she interacted with James!

Dr K was impressed with James' words. The cutest moment was at the end of the appointment when James was his crabbiest self and I told James, "Say 'I sorry' to the Doctor because you are crabby." James was still undressed, only in his diaper, and looked up at her with his big brown eyes and said, "I sowwwwy." The Doctor melted and said "You were great, James. A good boy."

We didn't have any real questions for the Doctor, but we asked for her advice concerning the nightly blankie droppings. She suggested letting him cry it out. We probably will try this this weekend. I will suggest that Jim wear his ear plugs because he is the one most sensitive to James' crying :( Not that I'm heartless but I know its for the best.

We've also been given permission to start chewable vitamins and switch to 2% milk.

James did receive two shots in his chubby thighs. He cries for only a few moments and then is fine. As we were leaving, they said usually with a new flu shot patient they make them wait half an hour, but they realized we were rushed to get him fed so they told us to watch out for hives and breathing problems. Yikes! Luckily James is healthy as can be and had no issues with the shots.

At home, he ate quickly and then got right to coloring.

Mama and James made a Blue's Clues "book".

James can pick out the Black and Yellow crayons. Sometimes Blue and Green too.

We are thankful for a healthy, happy boy!

I see the future

I think James is going to be a hockey player. He was golfing and I really wanted to keep him entertained and engaged (avoiding TV) so I grabbed another of his golf clubs and tried to take away the ball. He laughed! He loved it! We hit the ball around the living room and kitchen for several minutes. I had to hand over my golf club to Jim for him to take over. It was exhausting and hard on my back to keep leaning over with that small little club.

A successful night of no TV. Yay!

Smart Cookie

James and I spent a quiet evening at home. I tried really really hard not to have the TV on and I was successful until about 6:45. We played and read books up until that time. James, that smart cookie, brought me the Cheerios book knowing I'd get a small bowl of cheerios to go with the book. He munched and munched. I don't know how he can still be hungry after a full dinner.

The video below is James singing and dancing to the Dora theme song. He hardly ever watches Dora at home so I'm figuring that the older girls at daycare might watch Dora and he's learned from that.

Its a New Day!

I passed this sign on my way home from work on Thursday. I stopped to take a picture.

Our Saturday

I think James looks like Jim especially in profile.

James doesn't watch Dora the Explorer usually but he's grabbed on to one saying from the show...

James likes to play with his Cheerios book from Bucka Rosie.

Another favorite thing to play is Football.

At the end of the day, James was tired of Mama's camera.

Maybe it was the flash :) Poor James!

Birthday with Mama and Dada

James did not like his party hat.

James had a great day at daycare. We took over "cooks" (cookies) for a treat, Elmo party hats, and Elmo cups for the other kids. Sandra had a present for James- a tee ball set! James is going to LOVE it!

At home, we had a normal dinner and finished it off with a cupcake for James. He was very interested in the candle, recognizing that it is "hot" and Jim helped him to blow it out.

James is not a messy boy so it wasn't the typical cake smash that other kids have. I don't think he even did that at his 1st birthday.

James soon had enough cake. He said, "Out!" and then "Soap!", meaning he wanted to wash his hands :)

I just realized that we didn't give James any presents today. I guess we are waiting for the family birthday party next week!
