Go Vikings!

One day we joined Dad in watching a Vikings game. We were all wearing purple and sat down to watch.

I think that lasted 5 or so minutes before I got distracted... and James too.

We tried, Jim!

Homework

James is doing so well with his Spanish and reading. Here he reads one of his "books" and we are so proud of him.

Saver

James is definitely a saver.

When he is home he keeps this safe close to him. He hides it so "robbers don't get it".

It was a happy day to take his loose change to the bank to exchange it for crisp dollar bills. Actually it was more like $28.

Goal: $129 for a Nintendo 2DS!

SI Color Run

James participated in his school's Color Fun Run again. He did a bit of fundraising with his family (or really at this age, HIS PARENTS did the fundraising :) The proceeds go to his school's funds for art and extra activities.

We spot James in the line. He's wearing his favorite color- orange!

His classroom and Senora Sierra pose for a picture.

And they're off!

We were quite impressed with his running. He was pretty slow and steady, but then had these bursts of speed and energy.

We love you, James! You make us proud!

Hangin' with Gpa

James spent a weekend with Grandma Rose and Grandpa Larry. I received this picture via text to see that he was having a great old time.

More School Stuff

Yup, naked homework.

There was a day that I got to wait with James at his morning bus stop, and then I rushed to work. There really shouldn't be any rushing when you have a happy, beautiful face like this smiling at you!

I found this picture online, on the Spring Lake Park district's webpage. There were several back-to-school pictures. James is in the front row.

On another day I got to join James at his lunch time. I was curious because James was reporting "not enough time".

From what I saw there was plenty of time. I think there was too much socializing and not enough eating. He sits with a few of his friends and has a good time :)

I didn't stay for much of recess but I did spot these two cuties run off together laughing as I left.

James and Julian.

First Day of 1st Grade!

Guess who came to wish James a great first day of 1st Grade?

Sneaky! And he brought good luck money :)

I was also returning to my "First Day" so I didn't see James off on his bus, but I was home to help greet him from his first day.

Of course it was splendid. James really does like school. He never complains about going.

Grandma Rose called to get the full report.

And right away we established the routine of doing homework immediately after dinner. It is still working!

It's going to be a great year!

Getting ready for school

Yes, I am blogging from way back in September. These pictures are from way back the weekend before school started.

James spent a few days at New Horizon while I started back at my school job. He had a lot of fun seeing his old friends again.

We purchased a new Big Boy desk. The spinning chair is his favorite.

The warm fuzzies got arranged.

And we made one little trip to the biggest candy store in Minnesota! It was huge and overwhelming.

Every kind of soda you could think of.

4 feet tall!

Plenty big enough for 1st grade!

Math Love

James found his Dad's calculator and fell in love. He started to do simple math problems. I even put him to work at a store and had him add up what I was spending.

He carried the calculator everywhere he went.

And I showed him how to write "Hello" on it.

Jim ordered a calculator games book from Amazon and they set to work on solving the problems.

It really is fun watching James get excited by learning!
