ChaCha and Donkey

I forgot! I forgot to publicly thank Tia ChaCha and Tio Donkey for a great babysitting job on Friday night. Jim and I went out to dinner and shopped in Maple Grove, knowing James was in good, fun hands.

I don't normally publish other people's photos but this is a cute one!

James can learn a thing or two from ChaCha and Donkey. The next day James kept telling me something about waffles and I didn't know what he meant until ChaCha sent me a few pictures of their night. They made play-doh waffles! Oh! I get it now. They also began a new tradition of getting "cozy" on the couch. This was put to use on Saturday afternoon, after the zoo, when Jim wanted to watch the golf tournament on TV. We used the "cozy" technique to get James settled down. Pure genius.

Its a full life

We went to the Zoo on Saturday. We have a membership and we want to make the most of it. Also, a new playground opened in late July. The playground was nature themed- spider webs, tree houses, bird nests, bugs, bears, caves.

James actually stopped and posed for a picture!

This little boy loves a bridge.

That is NOT James on top of the mosquito. We took this picture from the treehouse, we didn't get close to the sculpture.

Dada teaches James to fish!

Oooooh a bear!

In the general zoo area, we saw Caribou. No coffee though.

There was a pretty field and horses behind James but he was more interested in leaves and sticks.

Goats!

James giggled when the goat licked his hand.

Awwww. Goats in love.

Jazz hands!! Actually, I kept telling James to not pick up dirty bits of hay and rocks from the barn floor. He was showing me that he had empty hands.

We were walking to the chicken coop and James decided to cluck cluck.

Jim HAD TO take my picture with the geese.

We had to tell James that pigs make all sorts of things like footballs and crayons?!

Climbing like a monkey.

OMG we found the Lost control panel! The hatch must be close by!

We had a pleasant lunch by the river. Mmmm nectarines and beer!

James and his Dada enjoyed the view- turtles sunning themselves on a log.

James and his Dada look for dolphins.

There it is!

At one point James didn't want to ride in the stroller or walk by himself. He wanted to be carried. He is a big boy and my arms were tired. James lagged behind and cried, "Wait...!" Like we would leave him!

On Sunday we went somewhere new! Chuck E. Cheese. Can't beat 25 cent games and rides!

A Star Wars game!

The game that James LOVED was air hockey. I think Jim is thinking that we must get a table now :)

Mmmmm greasy pizza.

A few souvenirs from the CEC machines/games.

James found a new love. Grapes! He can't get enough of them. I can't keep up with him- one week it was blackberries. And then raspberries. And then peaches. Now its grapes. I have to go buy more tomorrow because he's gone through a pound or so since Sunday.

Just a few things I've made in the last week or so.

Zucchini bread with cranberries and pineapple.

I felt the Raspberry ice cream deserved a better picture. It was sooooo good. My friend Erin tasted the ice cream and said she'd try and bring me some raspberries from her mom's garden. Mmmmm.

Erin was here for lunch on Monday and I made Pesto Chicken Salad sandwiches. Jim gave them a "Very, Very good" rating.

And for dessert some Cheesecake Stuffed Strawberries with graham crumbs. Mmmmmm. I cheated and used Philly's ready-made cheesecake filling. That stuff is the devil!!

Moody

James isn't frustrating like this (he does have his moments though). I just saw this and thought that this is what terrible two's are supposed to be like. My friend Christa told me that the terribles are actually the three's.

I have pictures and videos to blog but I haven't felt in the mood. Sorry blogger fans.
