This was the first 4th of July that we kept James up for fireworks. It was kind of a test to see what was to come in Orlando, where we hope we'll keep later, fun hours.
We were well prepared with bug spray and sparklers :)
One sparkler was enough. And then the really, really fun part for James? Playing in the dark! He had a ball running around in the dark with the flashlight and glowsticks.
Even before the 10pm City of Blaine fireworks show there was a spectacular show just one block over, behind our cross-the-street-neighbors' houses, between yards. They must have gotten together and planned it. (Note to self: make friends with the cool neighbors :)
After that fireworks display, and after we had been sufficiently bitten by bugs, we went inside and watched fireworks from the couch. We could see several distant fireworks shows, probably from the cities of Ham Lake, Coon Rapids, etc. By this time James had lost interest. He was still playing around with the flashlight. We sent him up to bed and called it a night.
It was a good first 4th of July for him! Next year maybe we'll venture out somewhere and watch a real show, with lots of people!
