I have finally found this blog all caught up. This makes me happy. I do take fewer pictures now, and even though this iPad makes it much easier to compose these blog entries I have found myself with less enthusiasm to keep it up. I'm kicking myself in the butt, so don't worry. I know that summers are usually my "busy season" for blogging so please look forward to future blog postings. I won't give this up!

RIP Blankie, Really, This Time for Real!
James "lost" Blankie a few days ago. We found him but haven't told James. We have made the best parental decision to keep Blankie away. He is a disgusting, stringy, tiny heap of torn fabric. James had been putting Blankie in his mouth lately, and even though I kept telling him to stop I'd find him sucking on Blankie. Ick.
So lately Curious George has been his companion at bedtime. Fine by us!
It hasn't been a big deal for James. Maybe 6 1/2 is a magical time.
School Carnival
I was under the weather (again) but I wouldn't miss James' carnival, especially because all of the kids had small parts in the presentation.
The presentation was all about Mexico. James thought it was perfect that he wear his Mexico shirt. It was.
The parents all sat in the middle of the classroom as the kids one by one recited their lines, about the foods and culture of Mexico.
James did great! I was so impressed with the kids' pronounciations and courage in speaking up. James told us later that he was nervous. But he did good!
And Dixie cup maracas with a song at the end!
¡Viva Mexico!
Mother's Day 2013
It was a day of surprises for me. It doesn't take too much to make me happy when I already have so much.
James planted a flower for me in this milk carton at school. It has already sprouted! I can't wait to see the flower soon.
First, I had breakfast in bed. My boys are too good to me.
My boys also took me to the garden center to buy hanging flowers for our house. I love our tradition :)
And we also found some gnomes for Tia ChaCha. Muahahahahaha.
We stopped at the playground to play. I even climbed the wall with James. I found out that my feet are just too big for those little pegs. I'll leave it up to the kids from now on :)
And because I liked edited pictures- here it is again.
This is like another present to me. A really good picture of me, as Mom, with my sweet little boy!
Love him. I love being his Mom.
Happy Mother's Day to me! It was a wonderful day!
May 6
This is what 6 1/2 looks like.
James had no idea it was his half birthday until I said we were off to find a piece of cake. We find a piece of "Red Velva" at Carole's. It was big enough for all of us to share, with plenty!
Happy 6 1/2, my Sweetie Pie. Mijo.
May the 4th be with You
May the 4th is an important day if you are a Star Wars geek, like my boys.
Tia ChaCha and Uncle Rich must be secret geeks too because James received a cool package from them to help celebrate the Day.
James makes sure that it is REALLY addressed to him.
It is!
WHOA! An Angry Birds Star Wars sticker book!!
He loves it. He played with the book a lot this day and made several sticker "posters".
This is the poster he made of Jim and myself, we are in love as Han Solo and Princess Leia. James is the Wookie saying "Eeeewwwww, they're kissing."
Seriously, that's what James said. Silly kid!
Thank you Uncle Rich and Tia ChaCha! You're the best! You made James' Day!
More TMI
The iPad doesn't get "red flagged". The only hands that touch it are clean ones :) But it does help get him to sit for 5-10 minutes for the magic to happen!
Suckers help too :)
Swimming
Before the big cleanse started, we did take James to his swim lesson. He is doing so well! So proud!
TMI
I hope James doesn't object to this post when he is like 13 or whatever. You know, when teenage surly stuff goes on. But at the end of April James was having some issues. He was having many accidents at school and home. We took him to the doctor.
So the first thing they ask at the doctor is for James to pee in a cup. I braced myself for this experience. James found it highly amusing and could not stop giggling that he was going to pee in a cup. This gave me the giggles too and we got through it just fine. And then, "Mom, I have to poop!" Of course. Public place. James loves to poop any time we are out and about.
But I noticed that his poop was very, very large. Just a little mental note that came in handy ten minutes later.
During the exam with Dr. Keis she asked a lot of questions about his habits, diet, and behavior. And then she asked if he poops every day. I let James answer that question because honestly I hadn't been keeping track. It turns out NO! And I mentioned his large poop just minutes before. Sounds like constipation. Maybe a severe back up.
Xray ordered.
Yup. Poop issues. The doctor said that all the fuzzy stuff behind his pelvis is poop.
So we spent a weekend close to home so we could give James three doses of Miralax a day. It went well. We saw lots of activity. Ahem. And then it got really messy on Sunday night so we did decide to keep James home an additional day, and miss school, to get him back on a regular once a day schedule.
I can't say that everything is back to normal yet, because we are thinking of doing another cleanse this weekend after some random accidents at school. But we are hopeful that this will sort itself out, very soon!
Fun Boy
James is the best. When he is happy and playful, he is quirky and fun! So fun! I miss his belly laughs when he was little, but his laugh is still infectious and music to our ears.
I taught James how to play Battleship. He loves it! (But watch out, he cheats when you're not looking!)
FINALLY!
Finally! Some nice weather!
Bike weather! (We are working on getting a new helmet.)
But we couldn't discourage his newfound confidence on his bike. He is very willing to go up and down our (flat) street. He is a little hesitant to go further down the street, where there are some slight hills.
I had to step away a bit to give him some independence, but don't worry I was looking out for cars. So far our neighbors and traffic have been very slow and calm. Not a high traffic area.
Nice weather also = playground time with Dad and Mom!
Lovely!
