September 20

I had just watched James and a little girl named Kaitlin hug goodbye. She told me James was her Boyfriend! James confirmed this. In the car he told me, "Mom, I have just one girlfriend."

I'm so glad he cleared that up but I think she might be the first of many (:

Kleenex has really been flying out of this house. Both of my boys have colds. I have escaped with just a slightly sore throat.

Moving forward

I'm going to resume blogging. I do love it. But I am starting from NOW. I have been avoiding this blog because I feel overwhelmed and backed up. I have pictures, stories, and videos from all summer that I would have liked to post but I just didn't. I took a little break. I will maybe post them one day but I'm not going to obsess. I'm moving forward. I am free!

Apples!

On this beautiful fall day we decided to go to the apple orchard. It's the best part of fall! It's my favorite season, yo.

James was also excited to go. He packed his SW backpack FULL of everything he thought he needed. I didn't even check it to see what was so necessary, but it ended up staying in the car anyway. He's so funny :)

We walked on the trail to see the apple trees. James is getting much better about smiling at the camera but I've learned to try and get the perfect frame ASAP because he loses patience.

I wish I had put my hair down but it was NOT a good hair day.

Apples as far as the eye can see!

This boy is my life.

I could weep because he's so cute.

And playful :) He found a clubhouse to play in.

And there are always sticks to find and collect. We always manage to convince him not to bring them home. The best reason not to bring them home? I mean, the one that works? He needs to leave them for the birds. They need them for a nest.

I know I've taken this shot many times. James loves to watch the apple sorter.

The fun continues! We were invited to a daycare friend's birthday party! Caleb, from school. I really didn't know who Caleb was (besides being a kid in his class) but James said he wanted to go. Caleb's party was at his house- complete with a bounce house, cake, ice cream, and treat bags! James had a great time once he stopped clutching my leg for the first 15 minutes. I didn't think he would do that with all the people- the little ones- familiar and playmates. And even Mrs. Kathy and Ms. Shaena was there! So eventually he played and had fun.

I'm posting this picture because of Daria. Daria is the most adorable, quiet little girl! And she looked like a little princess with the hair, the hairband, and the dangly earrings.

Kissing the ball? I don't know why.

The party moved inside for food, cake, and ice cream. Those brave parents. There were kids running around with balloons and playing. All their family members running around in Iowa shirts (BIG fans), and just general chaos. Fun though :)

Finally! James went into the bounce house. He loves it. I don't know why he hesitated.

And Mrs. Kathy was in there. They LOVE each other. I love seeing that. It makes me feel safe and comfortable leaving James with her at school every day.

This was a funny sign that was in the guest bathroom.

It was a great party! And now we are thinking about what WE want to do for James' party! We're getting excited :)

Darry

My sweet Darry, a former student from another life (it seems), came back to CRMS for a quick visit. He was the guest speaker in our AVID classes- he reflected on his time at CRMS, moving on to high school, and then wow'd us with his achievements at college. He has a full ride due to his hard work in HS, and now he's graduating college early. He's going to be a teacher eventually we hope :)

In his speeches I learned a bit more about his struggles- losing his Grandma (who took care of him from baby to 12) and his guilt in finding her too late as she died on the kitchen floor, his Dad dying of liver cancer last year, and then Darry's own health issues. I didn't know the extent of what he was going through. Colon cancer and surgery in March to remove half of his colon. UGH! This kid just needs a good life from this point on!

Hawaii

I just haven't gotten around to this blog. I did put my favorite Hawaii pictures in a montage. Enjoy!

September 11

Bundled up and ready for a walk to the playground! And oh yeah, chocolate sucker for a successful poop! Ha!

September 6

Mattress shopping.

September 5

We are starting our search for James' Big Boy SW room decor. At this toy store I appreciated that he LOVED a dollhouse (:

September 2

Rainy day. We can't play outside.

September 1

Our first "homework" assignment. James and his Daddy found pictures of things that start with "P" and cut them out. I told Jim this is the start of US being responsible for homework!

August 29

[insert lightsaber noises here] Sorry if y'all are tired of my son and the SW pictures. It's my life! (fact: 20/29 of this month's pictures featured James)

August 28

He's just GOT TO dream about Star Wars. SW pjs, lightsaber in bed, SW Lego bedtime stories. Oh, and we just finished watching the SW Clone Wars cartoon.

August 27

Blankie is so loved!

August 24

James is back in the swing of things! He has adjusted back to MN nicely (: I found him in the hands of this wild child though, going too fast for this Mommy's taste.

Vikings!

It is Vikings day at "school" today and Jim was very concerned that we did not have a Vikings shirt that fit... so last night we went to Kohl's. We didn't expect to buy a sweatsuit but really it was the only thing that was in his size. This morning I was very pleased because it was just so darn cute on him! Really, this kid looks good in ANY color!

There was a beautiful sunrise and the sun was streaming in, so I apologize for the lighting in this pictures. I was just so glad that James was willing to pose and even smile!

Now let's hope he'll sit down with his Daddy and watch the game tonight!

Hmmm

I really need to update. Especially with Hawaii pictures. It just seems like a chore right now. I will.
